Yesterday I read this in a her e-mail titled Holiday Pitfalls
"The first (and possibly BIGGEST) mistake is to give up completely. Making a blanket decision like, "I'm NOT going to think about what I'm eating over the holidays at all -- I'll worry about it on January 1st," is a BAD idea (in my opinion). With all the crazy-fattening foods that are everywhere during the holidays, that approach can easily cause you to gain several pounds very quickly. So don't do that. Instead, take one day, one meal, and one snack at a time, and remain aware of what you are eating. If you splurge at one meal, be a little more cautious at the next. Another mistake people make is to set huge goals that are sometimes unattainable. If you commit to not eat ANY holiday foods or to LOSE ten pounds by New Year's, you are likely setting yourself up for failure."
In previous years, the first part was me. This year, the second part is me.
Regroup. New goals.
I'm probably not going to lose any weight during the holidays, but I don't have to eat every cookie or cheesy thing in sight.
I will continue to eat and plan healthy meals. I will continue to avoid sweets and treats unless I really want them. I will workout 6 days a week and drink lots of water.
I will do my best not to gain any weight over the holidays.
Jan. 4th I will begin with new goals and new workout plan.
Sounds like a good plan! I'm going home for almost 2 weeks, and I know my friends will want to go out to eat for every gathering. I will work out as much as I can while I'm home and I will watch what I eat when I'm not out and make better choices when I am out. What my WW leader said in a meeting was that when you trip on the way down stairs, you don't throw yourself all the way down because you tripped. So just get back up and keep on going! It made sense to me :)
